SESSA MARINE LANDS IN BRAZIL

The shipyard announces a new production and distribution company to serve the South American market
Milan, April 22nd 2011 – At the 2011 Rio de Janeiro Boat Show (April 27 – May 2 ) SESSA MARINE will announce the establishment of a new company of the Sessa Holding Spa Group: SESSA MARINE Brasil Ltda, based in the industrial district of São José in the State of Santa Catarina, in the south of the country.
SESSA has a strong international vocation – with more than 90 dealers in 32 countries accounting for 70% of its total sales – and continues to expand after founding SESSA MARINE America in Florida in 2006 and signing important distribution agreements in Mexico, Dubai, Turkey and the Middle East in 2010 and early 2011.

A development strategy focusing on South and Central America SESSA MARINE has been a big name in Italian-made yachts for over fifty years and has now decided it needs direct representation in South America in the hopes of conquering a large share of the market there. The company’s new project will allow it to serve local markets from close by and overcome the problem s linked with customs tariffs on
imports from Europe.
To help penetrate this complex market SESSA MARINE will be working with a local partner, Luis Neto , whose experience includes working with the Brazilian shipyard INTECH, which has been making military and working vessels for more than 6 years. There will be no conflict of interest here, but a fruitful collaboration, strategically aimed towards development of products_old and markets on the continent without affecting European production policies.

A local partner: advanced technologies and the perfect location
The partnership between SESSA MARINE and Luis Neto will definitely bring great benefits and prospects. For the union will make it possible to combine a focus on detail and Italian-made quality with a workforce offering top quality and advanced technology in line with SESSA MARINE’s standards as well as an opportunity to apply a complete hull production process employing infusion moulding technology.
The state of Santa Catarina is one of the most interesting locations in Brazil’s growing boat market. The region is not only the perfect place for sailing, with a highly developed tourism industry, but also an industrial centre with a strong structure of related industries, an important tradition of boat-building and a well-established network of accessories suppliers. The south of the country also offers the perfect logistics for future development of Latin American markets.
To SESSA MARINE, being present in this area means playing a key role in one of today’s most important yacht markets.

PRESS RELEASE DATE 22.04.2011
The new company SESSA MARINE Brasil will be managed by Massimo Radice and Luis Neto. Massimo Radice says,
“We decided to work with Luis Neto because he comes from in a field which is not in competition with our business and is a partner offering advanced technologies. The synergy between commercial boating and yachts will offer benefits for both groups”.
Models produced and distributed

SESSA MARINE Brasil will produce vessels under 50 feet (15 metres), which are more suitable for local markets, in its own 10,000 square metre shipyard in São José. The new shipyard will produce a number of models in the Key Largo line of open outboard boats, including the KL 27, 30, 34, 36, and boats from the Cruiser line such as the C32, C35 and C38.

SESSA MARINE will continue to import boats over 50 feet, offering to this part of market, boats “Made in Italy” characterised by the painstaking attention to detail that is the italian company’s hallmark.
BRAZIL.High growth rates and penalizing customs duties Yachting is becoming more and more appealing in the land of “green and gold”, growing at an average rate of 15%
annually in recent years. Though the number of boats on the water is very low - in “nautically advanced” countries like Italy there are 10 boats per 1000 people, in the United States 48, whereas in Brazil it is currently 0.3 – Brazil is one of the world’s fastest growing emerging economies. In the years to come economic and financial growth will be even stronger thanks to foreign investment and the potential for consumption of luxury goods, including yachts. But there are some barriers to entry: the Brazilian government has established a protectionist system of taxation and customs duties privileging domestic industry and making it very difficult to import vessels under 50 feet.
Rio De Janeiro Boat Show 2011. Introducing SESSA BRASIL to the world
From 27th April to 2nd May SESSA MARINE Brasil will unveil five new products_old in Brazil: KL27, 30 and 36, C35 and C38, all exhibited in a prestigious stand with plenty of floor space.
